Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin noted that after the Covid-19 pandemic, Turkey and Antalya have experienced a significant acceleration in the recovery process. He stressed that the current figures have exceeded expectations, especially in the tourism sector, and that by the end of the year, Antalya not only reached but also surpassed the record level of 2019 by 5 percent, attracting more than 20 million tourists.

Şahin also pointed to a significant increase in tourism revenues, noting an increase in average per capita income from $80 to $100. He stressed that Antalya's contribution to the country's economy is huge, especially considering that the average spending of visiting tourists is $100 per day and the average length of stay is 8 nights, which in total brings the economy about $14 billion a year. According to TÜIK (Turkish Statistical Institute), Antalya ranks second after Istanbul in terms of contribution to the country's gross domestic product, which is largely due to the successful development of the tourism industry.

Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin emphasized the diversity and richness of the city's tourism potential, which goes beyond beach tourism. He pointed out the importance of such areas as golf, culture, congresses, health care and health tourism. Noting that Antalya occupies a leading position in the country in terms of the number of golf courses, Şahin stressed that this type of tourism attracts wealthier tourists and promotes tourist activity out of season. The Governor also expressed satisfaction with the results of the intensive archaeological work supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, especially in ancient cities such as Side, Falis, Perge and Patara. Şahin noted that the intensified efforts of Turkish archaeologists in these excavations have significantly accelerated the progress. He also drew attention to the importance of congress tourism for the region, mentioning the holding of international events, including the G20 summit and the Antalya Democracy Forum.

Şahin stressed that with a variety of events, including fairs, festivals, sports tournaments and congresses, the tourist season in Antalya lasts all year round, ensuring constant tourism activity.
